Joseph Israel Coverdill died at the home of his brother, William M. Coverdill in Girard last Wednesday at 1:05 p. m.

He was 66 years of age, the eldest son of the late William T. Coverdill of Girard. He was extensively known through the county due to the fact that he was one of the oldest pioneer stock shippers of Macoupin county.

He is survived by his brother, William M. Coverdill; three sisters, Mrs. Amos Robertson of O'Fallon, Ill.; Mrs. H. J. Spurway of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Robert McLean of Girard.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Friday at the C. M. Shane funeral home, with Rev. O. R. Spreckelmeyer officiating. Interment was in the Girard cemetery.
