John G. Hayes, 90, of Hallendale, Fla., formerly of Carlinville, died Tuesday, October 3, 1995, at Tiffany House in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

He was born March 14, 1905, near Girard, a son of George and Carrie Mayhan [sic] Hayes. Preceding him in death were six brothers, Lester Hayes, Orin Hayes, Homer Hayes, Howard Hayes, Ralph Hayes and Glenn Hayes; and two sisters, Edith Fransen and Marie Phelps.

Mr. Hayes worked for General Motors Oldsmobile Division in Lansing, Mich., for many years before retiring to Florida in 1965. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in England.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, at Union Chapel Cemetery near Girard with the Rev. Roger Zallers officiating.

Heinz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are a sister, Imogene Thorpe of Edwardsville, and several nieces and nephews.
