Robert Gene Hays, 44, of Decatur died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at his residence. He had been under a doctor's care.
He was born July 20, 1940, in Paris, Ill., the son of Harold and Lena Mae Scott Hays. He graduated from Girard High school and Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington. He was a music teacher for nine years and was manager of stores in Decatur and Kankakee.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lena (Scottie) Hays of Girard and two brothers, Tom of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Richard of Lebanon.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Girard United Methodist church with Rev. Larry Mason officiating.
Remains were cremated.
