Maxine (JENNINGS) PITCHFORD

THAYER-- Maxine Pitchford, 79, of Thayer died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Sunrise Manor in Virden.

She was born July 27, 1925, in Palmyra, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Francis [sic] Viola Adcock Jennings. She married Everett C. Pitchford in 1945 in Carlinville; he died in 2003.

Mrs. Pitchford worked at Bird and Son Lumber in Auburn, Kordite Manufacturing in Jacksonville and True Value Hardware Store and was a sales representative for Avon and Beeline Clothing. She was a member of Church of Christ in Girard.

Survivors: two sons, Richard "Dick" (wife, Kim) and Robert "Bob" (wife, Sue) Pitchford, both of Virden; two daughters, Dirley Pitchford of Thayer and Vi (husband, Tim) Norton of Carbondale; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (husband, Bill) Prose of Girard; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, the Rev. Dalton Mansel officiating. Burial: Union Chapel Cemetery, rural Girard.
