Herbert Lentz Dies Friday

Herbert Lentz, 77, well-known building contractor in the Nevada area for many years, died Friday afternoon at his home, 625 East Arch, following an illness of about one week.

Mr. Lentz was born July 2, 1880, at Montevallo, the son of Philip and Susan Lentz [sic]. On Feb. 23, 1903, he was married to Allena Howell, who survives. He had been a resident of Nevada for the past 57 years. Mr. Lentz was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Leland Lentz of Newtown, Mo., and Wilbur Lentz of Nevada; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Mills of Joplin, Mrs. Carl Pritchett, Fort Scott, Kan., and Jennie Lou Lentz of the home; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sue Adcock [sic], Bunker Hill, Ill.; one brother, T. H. Lentz, Pittsburgh, Calif.; nieces and nephews. One son was deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning at the Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Pliney H. Elliott, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Newton Burial Park.
