GILLESPIE-- Walter F. Ryan, 84, died at 3:42 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1988, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Before his retirement, Ryan was a machinist in the ammunition department at Olin Corp. in East Alton.

He was born in Greenville, Mo., son of the late James E. and Cora (Hutson) Ryan.

His wife, the former Thelma Sandahl, died Feb. 25, 1984.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas Ryan of Sharpsville, Pa., Milo Ryan of Byhalia, Miss., Bruce Ryan of Arvin, Calif., and Dennis Ryan of Colliersville, Tenn.; four daughters, Doris Adcock of Benld, Florence Moscardelli of Staunton, Geraldine Orso of Ferguson, Mo., and Ruth Gobble of Noxon, Mont.; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lottie Keck of Willow Springs, Mo.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Litchfield Christian Church by the Rev. Steve Rivisky.

Burial will be at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
